Lake Pedder; a new dawn (2023 exhibition & fundraiser)

To celebrate the open window of opportunity to restore Lake Pedder, a series of inspired artworks from renown artists past and present will be exhibited at the Battery Point Community Hall, Hobart. Open daily 4th – 9th of December, 10am to 6pm.

The summer of 2023-2024 marks a new dawn for Lake Pedder as the debate is approaching a pinch point for decisive action; either Tasmania reinvest’s in the redundant dams built adjacent to a fault line, or we restore the globally unique Lake Pedder and reveal its magnificent quartzite beach to another southwest summer.

Our Earth urgently needs protection and restoration, we cannot sit idling in this critical time for the planet. The original Pedder people are joined by a new generation of activists inheriting a climate disaster. Together, they are determined that we will not lose Lake Pedder a second time.

The below pieces will be sold as a fundraiser on Saturday 9th December, from 4.30pm. This will also be our end-of-year party, with Greg Wells and the Blackwater Band performing, there will be food and drinks, the artwork sales, and much celebration as we are yet another year closer to Lake Pedder’s inevitable restoration. You can RSVP here. Its a free event, with donations encouraged at the door.

Explore some of the artwork which will be exhibited below. Funds raised from the sale of these celebrated works will go directly to the Restore Pedder campaign, an urgent cause supported by the artists.

A series of Lake Pedder books will also be avaliable, these are listed at the bottom of this webpage. There have been some last minute additional artworks generously donated for the Auction, these will be updated on this webpage on Tuesday 5th.

You can make an early offer on any of the listed items, by emailing us at LakePedder.org@gmail.com (Bids will be updated manually daily, please note it is not a live system.) There will also be an opportunity to Zoom or call in live on Saturday 9th if you are not in Hobart. Please contact us to have this option made accessible to you.
