In September 2022, descendants of missing activist Brenda Hean undertook a tribute flight 50 years after her mysterious disappearance. In 1972, campaigner Brenda Hean and pilot Max Price went missing in an old Tiger Moth flying from Hobart to Canberra, where they intended to lobby federal politicians to act on the environmental crime of flooding Lake Pedder.

In February 2020 a crew took a submersible onto the Pedder impoundment to examine the condition of the original Lake Pedder beach. The results are extremely positive: only a thin layer of sediment dusts the iconic pink quartzite beach.
